ORANG UTAN FOR INDONESIAN HERITAGE
Orangutan or also commonly called "Mawas", is a kind of great apes with long arms and reddish or brown hairy. They live in tropical forests of Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly on the island of Borneo and Sumatra. Orangutan The term itself is derived from the Malay language which means "forest people". Orangutan includes two species, namely the Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo Abelii) and the Borneo Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus).
Orangutans have strong arms, short legs and bowed, but did not have a tail.Orangutans have a height about 1.25 - 1.5 meters. Weight Orangutan males can reach 90 kg, while for females 50 kg. Because the residence is a dense forest, it is difficult to estimate the exact number of population. Orangutans are currently found only in Sumatra and Borneo, in Southeast Asia. In Borneo, the Orangutan population is estimated around 55,000 individuals. In Sumatra, the number is estimated about 7,500 individuals.
